On September 17 (Tuesday), the match between Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic and Bulgaria’s top tennis player Grigor Dimitrov will take place at Arena Sofia.
The Postbank Visa Tennis Gala begins at 8:00 PM.
The organizer of this charity event is the Grigor Dimitrov Foundation, with all proceeds going towards its various projects.
Novak Djokovic is coming to Bulgaria at the invitation of Grigor Dimitrov. He has only been in the country once before—more than 10 years ago for the filming of the action movie “The Expendables 2,” but he has never played in front of a Bulgarian audience. The Serbian tennis player holds a record 24 Grand Slam titles, and just last month fulfilled his dream by winning an Olympic gold medal at the Paris 2024 games. Grigor Dimitrov is the most successful Bulgarian tennis player, currently ranked 10th in the world. The two have faced each other 13 times, with Dimitrov winning only once—back in 2013 at the Madrid Masters.
The interest in the match is immense. Tickets, priced at 80, 120, and 180 BGN, were released for sale through Eventim on August 8 and sold out in less than 10 minutes.
