From July 11 (Thursday) to August 11 (Sunday), the summer festival Muses on the Water 2024 will be held for the fifth consecutive year at Lake Pancharevo, near Sofia. Organized by the Sofia Opera and Ballet, with the support of the Sofia Municipality and under the patronage of the Mayor of the capital Mr. Vasil Terziev, this month-long event promises unforgettable evenings of ballet performances and musicals by the lakeside.

- From July 31 (Wednesday) to August 4 (Sunday) - 8:00 PM - The Sound of Music (musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, based on "The Story of the Trapp Family Singers" by Maria Augusta Trapp, directed by West Hyler. Vessela Delcheva and Alexander Georgiev perform the lead roles of Maria and Captain von Trapp, and children from DVT "Talasmche" with leader Dimitar Konstantzaliev) - outdoor premiere.
- From August 7 (Wednesday) to August 11 (Sunday) - 8:00 PM - MAMMA MIA (music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, directed by Plamen Kartaloff) - for ABBA music enthusiasts.

Lake Pancharevo is located 12 km from the center of Sofia, towards Samokov and Borovets, between the Vitosha and Lozen mountains, at the confluence of the Bistritsa River into the Iskar River. On its western shore lies the resort village of Pancharevo and the Pancharevo mineral springs.
The area around the lake is a recreational and entertainment zone with restaurants, spa hotels, and sports facilities, primarily used for water sports (rowing, sailing), boat and pedal boat rides, fishing, and balneotherapy. There is a 1300-meter-long beach and a paid fishing pond. The "Pancharevo Lake" eco-trail, a favorite spot for mountain biking, also starts there.
The Sofia Opera offers another open-air cultural event in July - the musical poem Rilskiyat Pustinnik (The Rila Hermit). It will be presented on July 26, 27, and 28 at 9:00 PM in the square in front of the "St. Alexander Nevsky" Cathedral - a 15-20 minute walk from our apartments.
The performance is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the consecration of the Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky". The musical poem Rilskiyat Pustinnik is based on a text by the Revival writer Tihomir Pavlov and depicts the life of the Bulgarian saint John of Rila the Miracle Worker. The music was written in 2022 by Father Kiril Popov (priest, composer, conductor, and educator). The work consists of 2 acts and 10 scenes, featuring Irinei Konstantinov, Atanas Mladenov, Ivan Radev, Angel Hristov, Dimitar Stanchev, Nikolay Petrov, Stefan Vladimirov, Veselin Mihaylov, Ivan Aleksandrov, Velislav Ninov, and others.
